Useful Hints & Tips
Bugs & Sun
- We recommend that you bring your own sunscreen and mosquito repellant. Although the local supermarkets are relatively well stocked, they may not have the specific product that you like to use.
- 3 Sisters is perched on the edge of the majestic Indian Ocean. And whilst this is a spectacular sight, the majesty demands caution and reverence. There are rips, tides, invisible currents etc and ALL swimmers must be wary and respectful of the Indian Ocean's power. Children should NEVER be left unsupervised on the beach, in or out of the water.
- 3 Sisters has a divine infinity pool for guests' use. It is the responsibility of guests to take reasonable care when using the pool. 3 Sisters' staff are not responsible for monitoring guests using the pool. Again, with no exception, children should not be left unsupervised near or in the pool.
- Personal belongings are an individual guest's responsibility. We recommend that you do not leave valuables lying around the property. In particular, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND that YOU DO NOT leave anything of any value on the beach while you go in for a dip.
- We recommend that non guests remain off the 3 Sisters' Property and rooms.
- We love to prepare homely meals for you at 3 Sisters. You can help us by letting us know at the beginning of each day, what your meals plans are for lunch and dinner for that day.
- Occasionally, the region experiences power cuts. These can last from several minutes to half a day and are unpredictable. Unfortunately, these cuts are completely outside the control of 3 Sisters staff. Should there be a power cut during your stay, our staff will do everything possible to assist you. We suggest taking extra dips in the pool and ocean, enjoying the breeze while sitting on one of our strategically placed planter's chairs. And, if it's in the evening - looking up at the millions of stars grazing the gorgeous night sky.
- 3 Sisters has a generator to power essential items during a power cut.
- At 3 Sisters, we try to be respectful of the environment. Please do not leave rubbish on the beach or around the property's gardens. If you have rubbish that you would like to dispose of, bins are provided around the property or please hand your rubbish to one of our staff.
- Air conditioners and fans are installed in all the bedrooms. If you are relaxing by pool or in the gardens or taking a dip in the ocean, we ask that you turn off the air conditioners, lights and fans in your rooms or request one of our staff to do this for you.
- Towels are changed every second day and sheets are changed every 3 days to minimise the impact on the environment. If you find that you need new sheets or towels sooner than this, please ask. Our staff are happy to assist.
- Laundry services are available at an extra charge. Please inquire with the house manager.
- Drinking water is provided at 3 Sisters. We do not recommend drinking the tap water.
- While alcohol is freely available in Sri Lanka, duties are applied. If you plan on relaxing by the pool with a glass of wine, we recommend that you take advantage of the duty free alcohol entitlements when coming into the country. If you forget or would rather not carry wine and beer on the trip down to 3 Sisters, our staff are happy to purchase alcohol for you in Matara.
- Alcohol is not served in public establishments such as, hotels/ cafes/restaurants on the Sri Lankan religious holiday of Poya - which falls on the full moon every month.
- Please contact us at mailto:reservations@3sistersinsrilanka.com if you would like us to arrange transportation to and from 3 Sisters. We can also arrange transportation during your stay at 3 Sisters. Just let us know.
- We would like you to have a memorable time at 3 Sisters. Please don't be shy - if there is anything that our staff can do to make your stay more comfortable or if you have any requests or questions - please ask.
- Sri Lankans are polite and eager to please. However, Sri Lanka is a conservative Buddhist/ Hindu Country. Topless Bathing may elicit a nervous smile but would be culturally frowned upon.
- 3 Sisters' is a special place, built with love, respect and antiquities, some of which are hundreds of years old. Please treat our little piece of bliss with respect and dignity.
